Tennesseans ages 16 and up to be eligible for vaccines by April 5

"All Tennesseans age 16 and older will be eligible for a coronavirus vaccine no later than April 5, Gov. Bill Lee announced Monday.

In addition, several Tennessee counties will expand eligibility to those 16 and older within the next few days, Lee said.

"The federal government has asked us to make sure every adult can receive access by May 1, and Tennessee will beat that deadline," Lee said.

During a news conference in Nashville Monday afternoon, Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said as supply builds, the state will continue to move through vaccination approval phases.

“We expect 311,000 doses in the state this week,” Piercey told reporters.

Next week, Piercey said, the state expects about a 30 percent bump in first doses – bringing next week's total to more than 350,000 doses.

That number, she said, will include about 50,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccines. . . ." per Rachel Wegner and Natalie Neysa Alund with the Nashville Tennessean
